Personally I love it and that is pretty much all I use.

AOL is the same price for dailup as it is for any other high-speed connection. Their software is like a virus you can't rid off your computer with ease. You are basically paying more for features that you can get anywhere else off the Internet for free. The software stays up the entire time you are connected to the Internet and it lags you out. It is a PAIN to cancel with them if you ever do. And it is funny how desperate they seem to lose you as a customer. The only thing i ever liked were the chat services, but then they became regulated and censored. They practically beg you to stay. Its just not worth the money when you can get something better and faster for the same price. Finally, its like being a child using the Internet while mommy is watching what you do.

Most of the complaints came from the days when AOL was dial-up and the users had to rely on AOL for everything. . .the browser was buggy, a lot of sites weren't compatible with it. . .it was pretty bad in general. Now, it's just that it's outdated. Also, it is INCREDIBLY hard to uninstall and unsubscribe from the service.

If it's what you are used to, that's great. I personally can't stand AOL, it takes over your entire Internet experience with their custom browser and whatnot. I like to personalize my Internet experience the way that I want and not the way some company wants. I know people that use AOL and love it. Like I said, it's all what you are used to.

As for me I never understood why they had to show you so many ads before you log on if you are paying for the service, and then when you would go online, you would be in a kind of aol intranet first. I like to just connect, open up my browser and type in where I want to go.

some don't like AOL cause they have been around AOL since it came out. they have seen the changes, the wrong doings, etc.
others don't like it cause its old, not hip, internet training wheels, etc.
AOL is the most hacked site out there, your items are not safe, most spam comes from AOL users, most fraud comes from there. The worse internet connections come from there, the list can go on and on.
AOL = All Out Losers

The only thing I don't like about AOL is that they seemed to be ashamed that they are an American internet service and don't want to affend anyone with the term American in their name.

AOL are notorious for poor customer support, making it difficult to cancel should you want to leave, their users are reportedly the dumbest (so many people will tell you), there software is extremely difficult to uninstall, their software funks up your pc, they offer all sorts of useless programs which they sometimes force you to run.
I speak out of experiance. I am an AOL user.

I had AOL for a few years. It was ok except for the price. Too expensive!

No, it's not that bad.
It's worse! Especially their dial-up software. It really messes systems up, especially when users install it on company owned laptops. It mucks up the network connections and then the users get upset when we have to remove it.
