you might have overfilled your zippo - i do this all the time. after a dozen or so lights, the fluid level will go down to an "ideal" level.

if the fluid in general is just poor quality, i guess i can just tell you to keep using it until it runs dry, and refill it with good stuff. that's strange that ronsonol is causing a problem though - i use it quite often.

have you checked your wick? normally a good zippo wick laasts a long time, but you could try pulling it out a bit an trimming it. that might solve your problem.

btw, is your lighter a "real" zippo, or a knockoff? if it's real, and the problem turns out to be a bad sponge (or pad or whatever its called), just send it in to zippo with a note describing your problem. they'll fix it for free and send it back to you in less than a week (i had to do this when my hinge broke a few years back - i sent it out in a padded envelope on a monday, and it was back to me by that thursday, with a fixed hinge, 5 flints, and a whole new inside piece)

Check the flint. Trim the wick. Be sure the wick does not extend above the top of the metal. Ronsol is the recommended lighter fluid. Here is a link to the manufacturer. Zippos are guaranteed for life.

check the flint to see if that is suitable, make sure the wick is fresh enough to provide a strong flame. using zippo lighter fluid has always worked well for me.

what is a poundshop? i have heard of a pawnshop.
