Just took the car in to have it looked at? Guy said my water pump is going out... said it was a pretty costly job. Can anyone give me a rough answer on about how much this will run me?...Also should the timing belt get changed too.....someone told me I should change that when I get new water pump....I don't know anything about cars...so any insight would help..Thanks!

You can pick up a water pump fairly cheap at any auto supply store. They are not hard to change but you have to have a bit of mechanical knowledge, otherwise take the pump to a garage and expect to pay 2 hours labor give or take a bit. Good Luck.
P.S. you should have the timing belt changed, at 80,000 miles.

If the water pump is driven by the timing belt change it at the same time. All it should cost you is the parts as you have to take it off to do the water pump anyway. This is also true the other way is your doing the timing belt and it drives the water pump do the pump at the same time. It may cost a little more but well worth it. If the belt belt breaks because the water pump fails it could take out the valves in the Cly. head. This can cost you 1500 plus buck to fix.On this type of engine you should not do one without the other.I'm not sure about the cost of the repair but you know what you need done so pick up the phone a call 3 or 4 places near you for a price . Remember the lowest price is not always the best place to go if your happy with the place your taking your car and trust them keep going back.Never hurts to price check to keep them on their toes . Good luck hope I helped.
