Because they actually eat 6 meals a day. They have breakfast whenever they get up...just coffee and biscuits. Then they have a midmorning coffeebreak at work and have another coffee and a toasted roll or some such. That holds them together until lunchtime, 2-3 pm. They have another coffeebreak about 6 pm, coffee with a cake or some such, or some people have a beer and a tapa. Then supper around 10.
This comes from the old idea of siesta during the hot part of the day. If you'd ever been here during July-Aug you'd understand...the pavement sometimes melts.

Your kidding me right? Im white and half the time I dont eat until 8 or 9 at night! I really dont think its a market cornered by spanish people! I think its all about your work schedule and when u get the 5 minutes u need to actually eat something! Hilly Billy's like to eat late at night too I know- my family are originally from Kentucky and lots of beans and corn bread after 9 pm! Especially if theres a good flick on tv! I still love to eat late at night! Probably cuz I work so late! But it really is NOT a spanish thing! My sons girlfriend is Spanish and he eats dinner all the time over there at like ummmmmm 5 pm! MAYBE its cuz Taco Bell stays open until 1 am! Atleast the drive thru! HA HA!

Why do Anglo people eat so late at fast food restaurants. That is all you see at those restaurants. One of the reasons Spanish people eat so late is because they are the last ones to leave their work. Their bosses leave early and eat supper early. That leaves the Spanish workers to leave late thus they eat supper late.
