The Rockets can make the playoffs and do well if a few things happen.

1) Yao Ming has to keep putting up All Star numbers, they don't go anywhere without him.

2) Tracy McGrady has to put up MVP numbers, staying healthy isn't enough he must dominate in order to keep up with Amare Stoudamire, Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony.

3) Luther Head can't slip, he has to keep improving his game and keep up with the best in the west.

4) Shane Battier has to play like he did back at Duke, if he can put Memphis behind him and play like his classmate Carlos Boozer, he and the Rockets should make the second round, after that, the west is too deep and yes in the east the Rockets would a 2nd or 3rd seed.

Are you saying Rockets are not one of the top 8 teams in the west?
They are 14-6 right now.
.700 ball is more than enough for playoffs

No, because Yao Ming is overrated. Tracy McGrady has seen his best years gone by. The Rockets don't have enough role players to make the playoffs, and even if they did, they'd be ousted in the first round.

Yes they will make the playoffs if tmac and yao stay healhty for atleast most of the year....If they stay healhty and yao stays at this level of compititiveness and tmac steps up then they will go past the first round but i very much doubt they will go further than that...the most is a 7 game series in the second round.

There is a great possibilty that they will make it this year. However, it still depends on T-mac's and Yao's condition, if they stay healthy, they might. If they keep on puting the load on Yao and T-mac, they are going no where like last year.
