I think this is true of all stereotypes - not just black women. But the media grabs hold of one 'type' of person in a community and they base a lot of characters from that type of person. Then that's the kind of person we notice and think to ourselves "Wow it ~is~ true, they are like that" as we remain oblivious to the other types of people in the community we only notice those that make the stereotype seem true.

The question is based on the false premise that black women are given more negative stereotypes than other minorities. I don't doubt that there are stereotypes for black women. I think that the stereotypes you mentioned exist because many black women have been successful track stars and basketball players.

When it comes to sports, Blacks are stereotyped period but that is not a bad thing sometimes cuz we are making millions.
But black women are the only true race of women who come in wonderful shades and varieties physically and we did not have to do anything but be born. Embrace it because I do!

I hope it's not the stereotype about us being illiterate(that means not educated). If so and you were the stereotype, you would prove everyone right. Stay in school and pay attention!!!!

if youu thinkk about it tere really isnt ... i mean think .. for black guys people always think their gonna shoot up some place do drugs sell drugs kidnapp ect. but none of that is true its getting annoying because also white people are stereotyped .. no one reallyy notices it but they are in a way ... because people of differetn race would be like "ohh your such a white boy ohh your a cracker blahh blahh " but .. no one notices it because we're white .. thats as hirtful to us as it is to blacks

i've never heard that stereotype. the only one i know if is they are usually good dancers, which is sort of true if you watch mtv or vh1. plus, it's not like there aren't stereotypes for white people.
