I've seen a few websites out there trying to sell software up to 30 bucks each so that they could have a message blink on the screen every 10 milliseconds. Does this actually work?

What about subliminal messaging in general? Remember the sexual messages displayed in those Disney movies? Sure, the messages were there, but I never had a strange craving to have sex with anyone after the movie.

What I'm trying to say is, is it crap that people thinks will work, or is it truly an affective tool of feint mind control?

Stae your opinions and please use sources. Don't be lazy! Thank you.

Subliminal message aren't very effective. Mainly because humans each have unique receptors that allow us to detect minute differences (Just Noticable Difference) in stimuli presented to us. Because everyone's JND is different, studies have found that subliminal messages are not as effective as once thought.

I think there's a lot to be said about getting into a person's mind like that. If you by-pass the rational, logical part of the brain, you are open to suggestion. I don't think the Disney images were supposed to make you want to go have sex, but instead to have you associate feeling aroused and warm with Disney- even if your logical brain doesn't recognize why. Because feeling a little turned on is pleasant. Flashing messages on the screen? I would love to try it because I've been delving into a lot of things like psychic ability, ESP, hypnosis, etc.

Now, I just looked up a subliminal message website to see what you mean and the damn thing had this nice music, and then it went crazy images of evil babies- I am rattled and pissed LOL

It only works if you have a certain personality type. Out of the three (a,b,c) I believe both a and c are venerable to subliminal messages. But it also depends on the method the person who is giving the messages is using.

Subliminal messages are highly effective on suggestable people, such as those people who watch reality TV or soaps.

They tried this on Mythbusters one time and it didn't work. I would check the Mythbuster sight for details.
