m doing a debate for one of my classes, and i need to find some good quality reasons that the darft is or woud be bad. please help me!!! lol

For one thing, it is obviously a violation of the 13th Amendment. No doubt this has been litigated in the courts, and how the incorrect decision could have been justified I have no idea. But the draft is effectively a dead letter nowadays, because what the military needs is not cannon fodder, but highly trained specialists who can use and maintain the complex tools of war, and you cannot get such by bringing in people off the street for a two-year hitch: you have to actively recruit them, hire them for a long term, and pay them what they are worth to keep them.

The government is volunteering your life. Literally. Now your family will be missing its father. They take no consideration into individual circumstances & you have no choice. What if you just had a child? What if your wife is dying? They don't care.

Everyone who goes into the military is committing the gravest immorality. People who get drafted have a choice between going to prison or going to hell.

if you have a lot of people forced to fight when they don't want to they could injure themselves and others, moral in the armed forces goes down, just look at Vietnam a lot of innocent people got killed because the soldiers didn't care.

There are loopholes for people who are smart or rich enough to avoid the draft.
