I'm guessing, but I think 2001 and I would bet not. Canada went metric in 1976 or so and it's still not taking there (other than for weather and some driving).

And anyway, the metric system started coming into use in the late 20th Century in the UK. However, not everyone uses it.

Most Britons under the age of 20 now think entirely in metric measurements, but people over 35 still tend to think in the old imperial measurements.
