Totally agree with that. Sadly, this is a racist, sterotypical society.

Is that racism or just a matter of preference? Assume you are a caucasian employer. Is it not plausable to give a call back to someone whose name says you probably have some common experiences and views.

What Tamika and Jamal says about them is you are automatically introducing the possibility of someone who will see any percieved slight as being racist in nature. It may or may not happen. But why invite trouble when you don't need the hassle.

If the persons names were Tammy Williams and James Jackson. There would be a greater likely hood of getting that call back.

Now if a black employer were to prefer calling Tamika and Jamal over Billy Bob Smith or Emma Suzanne Jones, would that be racist or preference?

Enough with this possible racist crap! I'm the same age as Bill Russell. Bill played in the NBA, I didn't. Is that because Bill is black and I'm white? NO! It's because Bill could play basketball very well and I inhaled at basketball. Why didn't Bill play for someone else? He didn't want to.

I prefer blonds to other women in general. Is that racist? No it's what I prefer. I prefer women that don't weigh more than 120 lbs. Is that racist? No it's what I prefer.

Well I bet in China candidates named Xi Lee, or Wu Chin are more likely than the O'Brian's and McCarthy's. In Saudi Arabia or Iran, Mohamed, Shohobi and Reza beat out the O'Micks every time. I guess it proves don't name your children Tamika or Jamal and if you do have them put down Tammie O'Williams or James McJackson on job applications if the person doing the hiring is a Sottish lass or an Irishman from Chicago.

A poll is statistics, statistics don't prove anything. Polls can be constructed to show anything the designer wishes to show. For example... if Jamal Jackson was doing the hiring, would he be more likely to hire Tamika Williams or Niel McCarthy???

If the name wasn't chosen because of the faith/family, what is the purpose of coming up with these names in the first place, other than just to be different from everybody else. White people don't seem to have that need. Coming out with these off-the-wall names isn't proving anything to anyone.

Yeah, in some ways. It's hard to be 100% not racist.
