If you want to convince him there's more to life than football, stand naked in front of the screen and make sure he sees the goodies.

Works for me (besides, that's why they invented the DVR).

Sounds like you're the one with the problem. Football games are only a few hours each, then (usually) only two days a week, and then only about five months out of the year. Baseball, hockey and basketball are much longer, so it could be worse.

Do you have any hobbies? Do you expect hubby to sit and watch you crochet (or whatever you do)? Give him space.

Get over it, and let him have his pastime. Be thankful you have a husband with a passion for something.

As far as things that take his attention away from you, watching football on TV is one of the most harmless options.

My humble suggestion is that you plan outings/events with him that don't coincide with the "big game" that he's really looking forward to. Also, see if you can strike a compromise so that he only picks one-two games per week to watch & then he has to do something other than watch sports on TV.

If he's not a professional sports writer, watching football is a "hobby." Ask him to do his hobby in moderation: there's nothing unreasonable about that.

Most men love football it's not like he is going out with other women. Make a deal with him you let him watch football and he can do something for you. I am sure you can think of something you want him to do.If he is a good husband and goes to work every day let him enjoy football.

Put on some sexy panties and demand that he give you a tackle. Alot of women dont have time to give their man what he needs, so the yresort to watching football. There too busy with the kids and their own selves. I mean if women were not able to pleasure a man and provide the power of the universe, they would be of no use to us, as we have a better time laughing it up with our buddies and watching football.

I am a wife, but i love football so i have no problem with watching games on Monday Thursday Saturday or Sunday.....you are NOT gonna win that battle, Football fans LOVE thier football, try to understand the game and maybe you will see that you like it too, then u can watch it with him....Good Luck!!

Watch it with him. It is GREAT. The only other thing in life besides football is NASCAR!!!
My husband and I have a great time at games and races. I will tell you how bad we are....he is coming home in March for his 2 week leave from Iraq....and we are trying to get to see at least one race. We tried to schedule his leave for the Daytona...NO LUCK!!
Sports are what men enjoy...it is their fun. More women are getting into them. I have always loved football and nascar, and it was one of the things I had in common with my husband.
But...even if you do not like it....do not try to change him. It will cause resentment. To fans, it is more than a sport, it is a lifestyle, they are devoted to their teams as much as they are devoted to their family.
If you do start watching it....I HOPE you find a team against his. My husband and I like different teams, and different drivers, so makes it REALLY fun to watch together!!

When you find a way, let me know. My husband has even turned my 3 year old into a little football addict. It's to the point where my son is telling me to be quiet during games so he can listen.

Marriage is about compromise. Quid pro quo. Something for something, as it were. Most men HATE that their wives micro-manage their lives as much as they do. While most men don't have that same compulsion about their wives.
So look at it this way: If you husband agreed to stop watching football, what would you/he do instead? And would you be willing to give up something you enjoy doing, if he asked you to?
And if so, what have you accomplished by all of this?

No, that's not fair! How are you gonna watch Desperate Housewives on Sundays!?!?

You should get TIVO and record everything and agree to only watch your shows when you're alone. If both of your shows are on at the same time, spend it together doing something (dating, etc...), and save the taped shows for when the other is busy.

You can find a show that you both like to watch together and make that your TV time. I've got my husband hooked on Desperate Housewives and Laguna Beach, and he's got me hooked on Hockey Night in Canada.

LOL yeah, I can so relate with Beach Bum above....my BF watches football mainly, and any other sport that's on....he goes from channel to channel and skips around to check on them all. Even pro-wrestling. There's nothing I can do except whine about it every so often and then he'll do me the great huge favor of giving me the remote...but only for a little while!

Oh well! Still gotta love them!
