My boyfriend & are planning to have a child. We have been trying for a while now.

We have said that on saterdays would be dad & childs day & i would do whatever i need to do & have free time & on sundays would be family days. During the week my bf & i would take chances to do cooking or cook together as we will have nanny for our baby & not to forget his mother & my mother. Is it fair enough for us to spend time with the child & at night leave the baby moniter in the nanny's room or should the baby moniter stay with us in our room? Otherwise the nanny's job is to feed (wont be breastfeeding),bath, change the baby.

This is going to be our first child together

As a nanny, I wouldn't work for parents who aren't being parents. You need to tend to your child sometimes too. If you're going to pay the nanny 24 hours/day - then yes, you can put the moniter in her room .... otherwise, no - that's incredibly imposing. When will she have time off? Having this strict schedule will be very hard on both you as new parents, the baby and the nanny. You need to have a schedule - but not have it set in stone or preset before you're even pregnant. Children need to know that their parents love them - not that they had them because it was "the thing to do".

It sounds like u r worried about the wrong things. Regardless if u have a schedule all planned out on the weekends it may not always work like that. You can't put your child on a plan, u have to spend time whenever. By getting a nanny to do everything u r really not experiencing parenthood. Good luck anyway.

I honestly think that once the baby comes your feelings on where the baby monitor goes could change....at least for the first weeks....you may not want the nanny to have so much input...just my 2 cents ....after having a child and knowing how much changed from my plans to feelings.....although in saying that you have to do what works best for you as a family...

Depends if nanny is going to paid for the overnight "on-call" service on top of the daily charge.
With all this "extra" care - when exactly were you going to spend time with your child??
