i cannot answer why not because i believe socrates was a paganistic fool and dont agree with him. i can say i personally have known mentally retarded people, infants, young children, very uneducated people, very simple people, people with low iq's, people who have never examined anything in their life much less the complexity of the jungle that is their own mind, but are more virtuous, more humble, more forgiving, less prone to take offense, more joyous, than all the "learned ancient elders" who held their nose at extreme angles and took offense when then commoners would dare to give them a wide berth.

Implying if someone does not examine their own life then they will be a fool doing anything and everythign they want, which would present a no moral no consequence mentality.
JESUS taught love your neighbor as you Love yourself.
Which is more profound?

If you don't examine yourself how do you what experience in life to do.
- It just means you need to know who you are and what you require from life before you can enjoy it.
