Sadly i heard the Xbox360 doesnt really play Xbox games, so im hoping that the Playstation 3 can play both PS2 just like PSOne games.

the ps3 is having the same problems that the 360 had. Some older games do not work on the ps3. Xbox released a patch of sorts on xbox live that helped with this problem, but no word on how sony will deal with it yet.

Actually, what you heard is wrong. X-box 360 is somewhat backwards compatible. If you go to Microsofts website, they will give you a list of all games that can be played. Playstation 3 on the other hand, has very few games, if any, that can be played on the new platform.
The Wii is the only system that is 100% backwards compatible.
Also, the PS3 has alot of problems right now. High failure rate in the machines is the biggest one.
If you are looking to get a PS3, look to spend on games as well. Or wait a year till all the bugs are worked out and get a newer version of the system

The only discs the PS3 cant play are PC game disks. It plays PS1, PS2 CD's DVD's and Blu ray discs.

Yes but from what I hear the older PSOne Games might not play or have a hard time playing.

yes,it can play PS2 and PS1 games but Xbox 360 is limited with Xbox!!
