Two questions back too you.
Is it a day (during the work day) or evening (after the work day) party?
What is the nature of your boyfriends work retail, office, outside (construction etc) or hosiptality (restaurant bar etc.)?
If it is day then dress in appropriate work attire for that environment. For example: your BF works in a law office Dressy business attire (Think Ann Taylor) makes the most sense.
If He is a software developer and its a jeans and T-shirt crowd, Then go more casual Calvin Klein.
If evening in scenario 1 Law Office then a simple cocktail dress is fine. Scenario 2 something a little more club oriented.
Remember Office parties are NOT true social engagements they are still work and many a person has spent years living down what happened at an office party. So dress like your mother would want you to dress if you were going out with her. Not to prim or drab, but not too over done or provocative.
The other thing you can do is to ask a female co-worker of your BF for tips.

Well because it is casual, wear jeans. Then you can dress it up with a cute sweater or top (depending on how cold/warm it is where you live). Good colors for the holiday time are red, cream (off-white), forest green, royal blue, or black. Finish of the look with a pair of boots or kitten heals (not too high).
Don't wear a lot of jewelry with your outfit. Maybe just a simple necklace and some stud or small hoop earrings. (If you have any jewelry that your bf gave you wear that. It is a good conversation starter)
Any keep your make up simple. Do your normal daytime look with a little more mascara and a darker/brighter berry lipgloss.

I'd go with a dark pair of jeans, tight red sweater, and pointy toed boots... thats always a very good and classic outfit to go anywhere..

A little black dress and boots.
Black pants or black jeans, strappy heels, and a nice fuzzy sweater in a festive color...red or green.
A sweaterdress and tights with peep toe heels.
