Have you noticed they seem to act different around you? I have a small dog and a cat, my dog seems indifferent, but my cat all of a sudden never leaves my side, sits on my lap at every opportunity, and since I was about 3 and a half months, she's been kneading my belly and purring. (kneading like when they are kittens and they are trying to stimulate moms milk ducts).
Has anyone else noticed anything funny with your animals since you've been pregnant?
I asked this question a couple days ago, but Im still very interested in what people have expirienced.
Thanks and Happy Holidays!

My cat now follows me around -- if I'm just wandering from room to room picking stuff up, say, she'll sometimes follow me from room to room. When I settle down in one room, she's usually there too. She sleeps in places she didn't used to when it means being near me.
I find it charming.
I'm also getting a lot more requests for petting, and there're more head-butts, face licking, purring, etc. Really, it almost made me wonder if she's worried about her status as an only kitten...

I have noticed the same thing with my cat. On Sunday she sat right behind my head on the couch. She's always trying to sit on my lap lately too (she did it with my last pregnancy too). I don't always want her sitting on my lap, so if I don't let her on she usually sits on the foodstool of the couch, right next to me or behind me. She always trys needing me, but I don't like when she kneeds and she pretty much knows that after my first pregnancy, so she doesn't try that too often anymore.
She also comes over to my side of the bed at night and usually she sleeps on my husbands side. It's kind of cute, but at times annoying.

WEll I have always heard that it's not good to have cats around when you are pregnant or when the child is born. You have to be very careful if you have an inside cat especially because they carry a harmful bacteria in their poop and if it gets in your blood stream it could harm the unborn child. Say it you walk around barefoot or happen to step in the poop. Also I have always heard not to leave a child unattended when a cat is near because the cat can take the childs breath away, by sitting on top of him or what have ya. Good luck to you and God Bless!

wow.. that's funny you asked this. Just yesterday I noticed my dog steers clear of me. Its like she doesn’t want to be around me or something? Weird. Like if I'm in her way, she walks like 4 feet around me. She wont lay with me on the couch anymore. I just thought she was going through a stage where she wants to be with my husband all the time.

Animals are very intuitive - they see your routine changing (even when you don't) and know something is up. You probably give off a different scent as well with all the hormone changes your body is going through.
