I wasn't planning on naming my child this but I was just wondering what you think? Is it an Irish name?

It's an incredibly beautiful name. It's especially unique here in the US, where there are so many children being named after celebs and such. I think it would be wonderful to name your girl Bronwyn, and if she does in fact get teased, it will only help to biuld her self confidence. Children tease the unfamiliar and the new. With a sense of pride in how special her name is, she will become a strong young woman. At least, that's my personal opinion. Good luck.

I like it. It's different but interesting. She wouldn't be just another of the slew of Tiffany, Chelsea, Brittany or any of the other fluffy named crowd. People wouldn't have to ask "Which one are you talking about?". And about the nicknames, people will come up with a nickname for any name. You wouldn't believe the number of nicknames my daughter Mary is called! The only thing she finds derogatory is when someone starts saying "Mary had a little lamb..."

Great name. We picked it for our second daughter (with the alternate spelling of Bronwen, on the rationalization that it was already weird enough without the Y).

A couple words of caution: We used to joke that we should have given her the middle name of "Echo," or just named her "Bronwen What Bronwen," because EVERYBODY asked us to repeat her name. And when we were first considering it, one of her grandparents claimed that she couldn't pronounce the name. (Later events suggest that she was just afraid we'd made the name up; she met a young woman from Wales named Bronwen, and it became acceptable.)

It's actually a Welsh name, and it means either "white throat" or "weasel."

I like the name personally...It is most definately Welsh but you see it alot in the UK and in Austrailia....I think it would be a wonderful name for a child and a nice change from the norm.

It's a welsh name, meaning "white beast" i think its very pretty though. You can also spell in Bronwen, but I think it's nicer with a y.

All the boys will be asking her if they can eat her.....brownie....gesh I mean it is her self esteem that you have to worry about not yours...maybe as a middle name but not as a first that way she doesn't have to tell a soul what her middle name is!
