I'm in college, and all around campus I hear people talking about getting As.

I hear all the time, people saying they got As and so on... however when the college publishes statistics in courses... a really really small percentage get As.

so, do students lie to their friends about grades?

Good question. I think you also have to consider the subject students are discussing. Remember that some students are talking about P.E. while the report takes into accord classes like Advanced Physics and Discrete Math.

And yes, I think people lie to their friends. Don't you think most people like to elevate themselves to look better or to feel equal to those around them?

Keep this in mind...C's are average, the grade the most of us should get in a class. A's should rarely be given, only in cases where somebody has truly MASTERED the subject. We have been trained to think that if we get all of the answer correct we deserve an A. Is that really the case? You can train a monkey to drive a car, but has it really MASTERED that skill? An A should be for going beyond the minimum requirements. Just something to think about.

Don't sweat it. Do your best and to h*ll with everyone else!

Stay sane.

Well, generally the only people that talk about grades in public place are those that are proud of their grades. Those people would probably be getting As. Maybe it just seems like "everybody" is talking about getting As. I know that whenever I get an A I want to share! I go to a really competitive school and it's exciting!

probably. they are just probably talking about a paper. Although I get a lot of A's. Not a 4.0 student, but i have had my fair share of A's . Hard earned A's, thank you.

Usually they are lying or they thought that they would get As. Or maybe they got A-s....and they are considering that as a full A.

I really do get A's, but I don't brag about it.
