my advice it to wait for both. The PS3 has some problems right now, typical launch bugs that need to be worked out. The wii do also, but not nearly as many.
Also, no one seems willing to think ahead in terms of the Wii. In a few months, the novelty of the new user interface will wear off, leaving gamers with an awkward and frustrating control interface for their games. The non-games who bought the will will be bored with it also.
If you are already a gamer and cant wait for the PS3 to work out the bugs, buy an xbox 360. Otherwise wait for the PS3.
The wii is a last gen console and not worth buying if you took away the new control interface.

Your Joking Right. The Ps3 It has a blue ray disc which supports
All playstations, dvd,dvd hd, and cd player. A blue ray is over 600
dollars. It supports full Hd. 360 is half of the ps3's processor and the wii does only 480 op. The Ps3 Does Full Hd. The ps3 has
MemoryStick/SD/CompactFlash Slots, the Wii just has SD.
It also has built in wifi. The ps3 is preety cheap then.
The ps3 surfs the web, holds video, pictures and music.
What else do u want its a super computer for only 600.
When people move around the controls they have been breaking the tv(hd as well) with a remote.
So Its like paying 2000 dollars for a piece of crap.
P.s. The strap has also been breaking for u wii players and nintendo knows that so dont say people are not wearing the strap, so thats why the tv's are breaking

The system you get depends on how you'll use it. If you want to play movies and have excellent graphic power, go with the PS3. If you only want to play games and have fun, Wii is a safe bet.
I have the PS3 and highly recommend it. You do not need a high definition tv to play any of the games but using one does make it look very nice. The Blu-Ray movies are more expensive, which is the downside but as more movies are converted to the standard they will drop in price. Just like any other new technology.
Edit: You don't have to play Blu-Ray on it either, any dvd format will work and the system automaticaly adjusts the resolution that you watch or play games at to suit your television.
Of course, if you have children you should go for the Wii because it is more family oriented. I've played it and the intuitive control system is fantastic. Just be careful not to throw the contoller and break it when you're bowling.

If you want a really expensive PS2 buy the PS3 its the same, the only difference is the games are on high definition. Wii was made to introduce something different. PS3 will fall just like the romans did and Nintendo will rise up out of the ashes once again with their new system coming out in 5 years called the Phoenix.

You will continue to get different answers because there is no clear winner. Everybody will have a different opinion.
If you aren't already dead set on a PS3, you should get the Wii.
