YES. Finally someone that understands that. "I'll pray for you"... Does that mean that's all the effort that I am worth to you? Couldn't you at least kick me in the balls or something?

Why not finish the statment? "I'll pray for God to do something for you because you're not worth my time."

It annoys me when it comes across as superficial and/or careless. There are times when a person says "I will pray for you" but it seems that he/she is just saying that with no intentions of following through.

I also don't like it when the person is saying it in an arrogant way such as "I will pray for you (i.e. because I've decided you have a problem and need help)." It could almost be translated into, "You poor idiot; I will pray for you."

I like it, though, when the person is sincere. Sometimes, I'm just going through a really hard time and having somebody let me know that he/she will pray for me is a great comfort...especially if you are going through something difficult and there isn't much anybody can say to help you. It is good to know that people care and want to pray.

Even if you are not a Christian, why should this annoy you? As a cancer survivor I had a lot of people pray for me and I believe in the power of prayer and very glad that people care enough to pray for others.

No, it's just another way for people to say they are thinking about you or hoping for the best for you. Unless they are praying for you in terms of something utterly annoying (like some fundie prosletizers who want to convert you). But if someone close to you has died or you have been ill, it's just an expression of caring.

No. I appreciate all the prayers I get. Does it hurt you in any way, shape, or form? Prayer gives me peace. It lets me know that others are thinking of me and that they are good people for doing so. Unlike some people who have to hurt others feelings or spew hate all the time. It's comforting to know there is still some love for human kind in this world!

I guess it depends on why they're saying it. If they're saying it in a real condescending way then sure I'll get irritated about it. But if I'm sick or I need help with something, and like my best friends grandma says she'll pray for me - then I take it in the loving way she means it.

Yes. I used to pray and found it was a waste of time so I don't want others to do the same.

No, it's not annoying to me. In fact it is a real privilege to have someone pray for me. Please feel free to pray for me. Thank-you

No, I think it's nice. Even though I'm not Christian, I do believe in the power of prayer - even if my interpretation is different. Positive energy directed towards you in negative times is *never* a bad thing. :)
