The undergraduate degree is not very important unless you want to work in that field. For example, if you want to work in marketing, a degree in electrical engineering won't help you any more than a degree in English Literature. If you want to work in Finance, it will be a small help -- because it establishes your credentials as a person with analytical abilities.
Once you have an MBA, your prior work experience is not too important -- unless you go back to that field. However, work experience is critical in getting into a good MBA program. Getting an MBA in a full time program does not pay off unless you go to a top school.
