I discontinued my use of antidepressants (zoloft) about 3 months ago. I want to have a baby and decided that no medication in my system would be the best thing. It went ok for awhile but in the last month I have become really depressed. I don't do anything and I find it hard to motivate myself to do anything, even clean my house. I just hate the way I feel right now. Should I consider going back on my antidepressants? Could it harm the baby if I get pregnant?

I actually went on Zoloft when I was about 6 months pregnant with my first child. My midwife informed me that Zoloft was one of a few antidepressants that was approved for use during pregnancy. My daughter is now 3 years old and there were/are no side effects from the meds other then a happy mommy!
Definately talk with your doctor on this one. You may run into more problems getting pregnant if you are off your meds because your hormones are all out of wack.

I am currently on Zoloft as well and have been since about mid March of this year. I have read plenty of literature on Zoloft and pregnancy because my partner and I are actively trying to conceive. From the information I have read, there seems to be no proven side effects on the fetus or newborn when mom takes Zoloft while pregnant.

I am, however, curious: Are you having difficulty becoming pregnant? Im on Zoloft and am actively trying to conceive for the past 3 months with no luck. Ive read information saying Zoloft may hinder your chances of getting pregnant.

some anti depressants can cause problems in the first trimester, talk to your doctor before going off any meds or starting them again, and make a pre-pregnancy appointment to talk things over with your doctor. My SIL is pregnant and started taking her meds again after 4-5 months. Her doctor said it was safe.
