If everyone in the modeling world is skinny the clothing fits better. Could you imagine girls on the runway with fat coming out around their pants line or a bulging stomach. It everyone is skinny the designers can easily make the alterations to fit different models. And it is true that the modeling world is trying to take a stance against super skinny models- I know there is a place that they won't allow models under a certain size on the runway anymore (I want to say it's Brazil but I could be wrong). It has been in the news a lot lately because of all the anorexia related deaths.

That's because models are supposed to be a human mannequin, meaning its all about the clothes. If the models look and act too much like real people on the runway, their personality could outshine the designers' creations.
Plus, the designers need to sell a dream, and that would be pretty hard to do with a "regular" person.
Since I'm not a model, I'm happy to say that I will enjoy my homemade potato soup tonight. Because I know I'm not a model and I'm grateful for that.
Happy being normal,

i think the fashion industry tends to make clothes that "look" better on abnormally skiny women. Supposively the clothes fall better on them.
But i do believe their trying to change that a bit. Recent runway shows in Spain banned women with a bmi of less than 18 (a marker for underweight).
Other shows in Britain and Milan have not outright banned too thin models but have made sure that their models are "healthy"

A length 5 or 12 is definitely no longer fat. Heck, I placed on between a three and a 7(relying on the emblem) and maximum persons nonetheless say i'm skinny. i'm so ill of seeing those who are not even fat in weightloss classified ads and plus length catalogs. And fairly, i'd really be overweight than be one in all those ladies who look like they are no longer some thing yet skeletons with pores and skin.

They(desiners) claim that the clothes drape the skinny anorexic looking ones better. In glamour magazine they photoshopped a regular model and put a little meat on her bones. She was still skinny, but so much prettier. They took a poll on it and people agreed that the altered picture was much prettier. I also saw on style where in some country they liked to use less skinny models on there runways and I gotta tell you, they looked so much better. who knows, Maybe someday they will finally get it!

There are different types of models. There is the "curvier" models and then there are some skinny ones too. Skinny girls look better in most clothes to be honest.

I have a theory; tell me what you think -- Many of the models in the industry are very skinny and have no boobs and no butts. They don't look like women; they look more like pre-pubescent boys. Now, many of the designers for the fashion industry are gay men...think there might be a correllation here?

Seems to sell more clothes. When your purpose is to sell clothes, you use the best tools you can.
Ignoring the truth doesn't stop it from being true. =)
