Sometimes the hormones can make you hungry so you eat more, but that's the only reason they cause you to gain weight. If you eat healthy food, then you'll be fine. They also change where fat is deposited - moving it to your boobs, butt and thighs, more than elsewhere.
Also, as you get older your metabolism slows down, and doesn't burn as much fuel as you used to as a teenager.
Snack on veges and fruit if you're feeling peckish during the day.

Actually, most birth control medications can cause weight gain when you first start taking them. My doctor says the weight gain usually levels off and stops after it's been in your system for about 6 months. You can ask you doctor about other types of birth control that are available to you, because some are worse with weight gain than others. Good luck.

The birth control pill itself doesnt make you gain weight. Its the hormones in it that make you eat, but ultimately its your food choices that make you gain the weight.

From what my ob/gyn tells me, the side effect is technically "increased appetite" as opposed to "weight gain". It's just that for whatever reason, the hormones increase your appetite. You just need to exercise a little self-control, and restrict your eating to normal mealtimes, and healthy foods.

How old are you? it depends on age and your hormones. It's not the pill that is causing the weight gain it is your own metabolism.
