I'm not sure if I should switch my cell number over to Verizon and pay the penalty (I don't know what it is) or just keep the Cinuglar account open and switch the number over to Verizon after the Cingular plan expires. I need to open a new Verizon plan before Christmas to take advantage of a special offer.

Your ETF depends on what state you live in. Some States, Cingular can charge the full early termanation fee. In other States, it's pro-rated over the total period of the contract. If you are in one of those States, termanating your contract 1 month early will only be a minamal cost. Go to Cingulars website, the States with the pro-rated ETF will be listed in the small print

well.....
u can cheat the system!!
u can get the phones thru verizon and just not port your numbers over from cingular til your contract is up.
but u will end up paying for service on the cingualr and the verizon accounts. but that away u wont owe cingular a cancellation fee, and u can still get the good deal from verizon

You would be penalized the early termination fee of 150 or 175 dollars per line that ends before the contract end date. It won't be waived.

$175 dollars, is what the financial penalty is, but a much greater penalty is having Verizon service

You will have to pay a penalty if you stop the one. I would keep it the last month and talk lots...

You have a written contract. It does not matter if you have two hours left if you break it they can penelize you. And they will, believe me!
