Would it be because they have to survive in a way or another???
Is almost similar to that "psychological" thing to tell yourself in the mirror every morning " I am beautiful and strong and intelligent"... It gives you the guts to start the day... But unfortunately doesn't make you prettier ... or stronger or smarter...

What size should be average then? Because this is where the problem lies. If you don't have realistic ideals, then there is no point complaining. If you said average should be a size 8-10, that would be fine. But if you said a size 2-4, then maybe you have to wonder why so many women don't bother trying to lose weight or try to console themselves................

I'm only 5ft2 and a size 6-8 on top and a size 8-10 on the bottom. Just because I'm short, does not mean I should be a size 4 or less, but I have a feeling you are one of those guys that idolises size 0 models. No-one will take you seriously if that is the case and I don't blame them.

Take care : )

Women's clothes sizes are very deceiving a woman size 14 and 5'1" looks allot different than one that's 5'11". Big women are living, breathing human beings. If they are comfortable with the way they look, what do you care?

Do you think Paris Hilton is the ideal size? I sure as hell don't! A good strong wind and she's gonna blow away. On the other hand, Beyonce (now that she's put the weight back on) looks just great. So does my 45 year old wife. She was fairly slim when I met her 22yrs ago, but she filled out perfectly 5"6' and simply delicious.

Monique is way too much woman for me but she found a man that loves it. Why don't you do the same and not worry about the others.

My only concern with really thin OR big women is there wealth. At either end of the spectrum, there are serious health issues to contend with.

Well I wouldn't say "the new beautiful," since the rail-thin women we now idealize were not considered attractive, and women considered overweight and demonized in current society were considered the ideal, at various points in history. Take a walk through a museum sometime. To clarify: I'm not talking about morbid obesity -- but I haven't seen any ads or movements yet that are tying to push morbid obesity as "the new beautiful," either.

I'm not saying the movement will (or won't) succeed, or that people should be lazy, should be unfit, and should subsist on Doritos. But consider for a moment that Marilyn Monroe, when she was thin, was a size 12. What we consider beautiful, within certain parameters, does change, and the version of thin that we see today is not a version of beauty that's been with us long.

Honestly, I don't see overweight and fat women trying to convince society that fat is the new beautiful, I see society encouraging both eating disorders and being overwieght by the media saying only this is beautiful on TV and in movies, and then the next second the commercials and ads come on saying "eat at McDonalds" and other unhealthy places. I see overweight women saying "I don't care what other people think" and showing self-esteem despite the way they look, which is good- shouldn't everyone be able to do this? But I guess if you're seeing obviously overweight women saying fat is the new beautiful, I would have to chalk it up to what the underlying message is, which is "what is on the inside is more important that what is on the outside", which I can not argue with- can you?

Size 12-14 IS average. Not EVERYONE can be 6'0 with a SMALL TINY BUILD and be a size 4. Just accept that SOME people ARE bigger than others, and some are smaller...I'm not talking about the REEEEALLY obese people. But whoah there...you're saying size 12 is fat??? I'm pretty damn fit and I'm a size 12, I'm also 6'0, with a medium build.

AND MOREOVER, SOCIETY HAS MADE A 100 TIMES HUGER EFFORT TO CONVINCE SOCIETY THAT CLOSE TO ANOREXIC WOMEN ARE BEAUTIFUL, And you get your panties all in a knot when the media decides to say "Hey, you can be size 14 and still be hot"

Think about what you're saying buddy.....

Thin is not the way forward, but fit is. Just because you're thin doesn't mean that every man finds you attractive, I'm a size 10/12 and curvy and love the fact that i can find beautiful clothes that i look sexy in, rather than rumbling around the kids section of H&M.

Wow! That was pretty rude. I think people should be happy no matter what they look like. Plus there is somebody for everybody. Take Tom Cruise for example... A total twit, but very handsome. He found another beautiful twit to marry him. So I ask you. Are looks the end all and be all? No. It's what's inside. People smoke and I think that is way grosser than having a little weight. It's better to be fat and pregnant than smoke and pregnant. I also think your theory has gone to extremes and some one really believe skinier is better and they starve themselves. Sorry, but I as well as many others know that what is more important is on the inside. Good luck with your little theory.

obviously you didnt pass history in school. up until the turn of the century a woman with curves was regarded to have the ideal body. it all goes back to human nature. in the old days the curvier a woman was (within reason, she still has to be healthy) the better chances she has of carrying healthy children. it wasnt until recently that people were brainwashed into thinking thin was attractive. if you dont beleive me look it up in any history book. so, im sorry to be the one to break this to you but fat is not the "new" beautiful, its the way it used to be and the way it should still be.

I can't attack women that due to their low self esteem, let themselves go, or due to the fact that food was far more important than their appearance, became over weight. I think that the entire campaign overweight women have organized is merely to boost their self esteem and confidence in order to shed the extra pounds. The periods in my life when I have been over weight (I've never been passed size 10), a lot of it had to do with a low self esteem.
