I thought most of the answers were positive. Out of the 30 that were there when I read it, I'd have to say 90%-95% were positive.

Either because that's what they think will win, or because they're angsty teenagers, or because that's the mood they're in right now.
It's a combination of factors, and I think at the main source of it are the gd glamour commercials and cosmetics ads, that show us "You aren't perfect. Heck, you aren't even close. But if you buy our stuff, you might just turn from an ugly duckling into a swan."
It's just depressing and it makes me mad.

Look at the life we live nowadays. War, suffering, etc. No wonder so many people suffer from depression and low self esteem.

don't have a magic mirror, but am happy with the ole lady looking back at me, just don't feel as old as she looks
