Code Division Multiple Access.

It's the Digital technology used by some US cell phone carriers (Verizon, Alltel, Sprint).

Code Division Multiple Access

I was actually working for Cellular One (now Alltel) when we switched from TDMA to CDMA and what a big difference. Along with better call clarity, less dropped calls, and better handoff between towers while in motion, we also got mobile web for handset downloads.

I still prefer GSM though.

Edit: CDMA and GSM came out roughly around the same time. They are both considered "Second Generation" wireless technology.

It's acronym,of code division multiple access. much advance technology than GSM giving much faster data, voice clearity because of much bandwidth.
cdma existed during World War 2 by the English allies to avoid having their transmissions jammed. As war ended, Qualcomm patented the technology. it's commercially available as a digital cellular technology. Now CDMA is a popular communications method used by many cell phone companies.
