i found a great circular glass votive and a terra cotta planter/plate that would look great together.. however would epoxy (waterproof glue) and/hot glue gun be enough to keep the water inside, or do i have to keep looking for jars?? it looks SO much better w/ the votive and planter... =T

You might be able to use a flat plate to attach your votive-container to, but it's often better to have some kind of a groove for the rim to go into along with the 2-part epoxy glue (I wouldn't use hot glue). If you're going to be shaking it a lot though, or putting pressure on the bottom in a way that would stress its join, it might not work very long.

Of course, you'd have to seal the terra cotta before doing this if it's not already sealed, and not sure which glue would be best (some possibilities would be 2-part epoxy or aquarium glue, and Gorilla Glue will hold anything but not sure about some things because it sets with water and swells (so needs to be clamped, etc.)... you'd have best luck with building up a lot of glue around the outside of the join, I'd think.

There's a load of info on making snowglobes yourself on this page at my site:
http://www.glassattic.com/polymer/outdoor_snowglobes_fountains.htm
(you might especially want to read the "Lessons" section even though most of those involve screw-on lids, etc....but some don't)

P.S. most of the info on that page relating to "sealants" and "water-contact problems" are when using polymer clay or certain other materials like glitters in the snowglobes ...some will get white coatings, algae, rust, etc.

Good luck!

hand-crafted something are continually an excellent present. It shows extra idea, attempt and "care" then something you need to purchase for someone else. the purely right presents I somewhat have ever gotten are the hand-crafted ones. because the presents very last for decrease than a couple of minutes, even with the undeniable fact that the "specialness" very last always. opt for it.
