Orajel and Little Teethers are virtually the same aside from having different brand names. They both work well though one may have a better flavor than the other.

My daughter had cut teeth very early and I used this stuff called "Hurrican Gel". It's like "Topical" which is the stuff that the dentists use - just not as strong. It worked like magic!
Orajel can upset the baby's tummy because it's a gel and doesn't stay in place. The hurricane gel is does not have a liquid consistance to it.
You could also try some teething rings - but I think that numbing the pain for them is so much better! I hope this helps you!
Good luck!

As a mother of 3 grown kids I can tell you that none of my kids had any problems when it came to teething. I gave them all this homeopathic remedy that worked miracles with all of them: Humphrey's #3. No fever, no drooling, ro diarrhea. As soon as my first grand kid is born I'll get it so my daughter don't have to go through all the teething problems.
Here is the link to where you can see it, read about it and buy it on line. By the way, gels do not work...all the baby does is lick it off and swallow numbing medication...not good for the baby. Good luck!!!

If your baby has teething pain offer her something to CHEW on, as this will provide the BEST comfort, and also assist with the eruption of her teeth.
Teething gels (numbing agents) should be avoided. Not only are they unecessary but they may hinder a baby's ability to swallow (which can be upsetting for a baby and make nursing more difficult). * First expressed by my pharmacist and later confirmed during my baby's first dental visit and by his pediatrician.
Make sure you offer plenty of fluids to replace what is lost through drooling.
If she is too uncomfortable at night when unable to chew on teethers you can use baby Tylenol as needed.
There are lots of fun options that can be chewed and also played with as toys. My son's FAVOURITE teether was my own finger. I massaged his gums when he wasn't applying pressure. It brought immediate calm and relief every time he fussed.
I bought a dozen different types of teethers before I found something my son liked. I'd like to recommend teething towels (which have the added bonus of absorbing drool), bristle buddies, and teething beads which are easier for little hands to hold (most teethers were too big for a young baby's mouth, or too awkward to hold and spent more time on the floor than in his hands).
Here are a few product reviews:

My son LOVES the hedgehog! I HIGHLY recommend it (he has the smiley-man too but the hedgehog is easiest to hold and use.)
Good luck :o)

Just a gel won't work on it's own.
They need to chew on something to help cut the tooth through sooner and it has to be very cold so that the pain is relieved while doing so, so apply gel immediately after the baby is done chewing the refrigerated chew toy.

actually, we were recently informed by our pediatrician that the gels can toughen the gums, making it harder for the teeth to come through. and when they do start coming in, it's even more painful, making the parents want to use more of the gel. the best stuff in the world to use is a teething tablet. it dissolves almost instantly, and has little to no side effects.

Oragel works, but you will not want to use that all the time. I found that when you put a teether in the freezer and let them suck on it. The ice helps to numb the gums. It worked great with my boys.

You know I read in a Baby Magazine that you can also put a slightly damp baby washcloth in the freezer and then once it is a bit frozen (not all the way) give it to the baby to chew on....It's good for scratching the gums and provides a nice numbing effect as well.
Other than that I used Orejel.... be patient, your little girl will get through this.

I didn't use any of these on my son. I was told that if you do it toughens the gums which causes more pain for the baby. I did use popsicles, cold washclothes and I rubbed a little bit of pure vanilla on his gums which helps to numb. He liked the taste of it too!

only Tylenol worked for our daughter. And teething rings. The gels didn't seem to do anything.
