Do as the locals do.
I have family in the Western Sahara and visit them every year, although I haven't been in the summer yet.
They don't sit around in the sun and if they go out in the day they cover up. Their clothes are loose, not fitted and although you think they would be hot the clothes make you feel cooler!
The houses have been built well and inside it is cool, they don't need air-conditioning in their house. I have never had trouble sleeping because of the heat.
They have a siesta at the hottest time of day.
They don't eat 3 big meals a day, they eat about 5 small meals.
There are more people out and about in the evening, when it is cooler.

I never came across any smelly people, lol, as someone else said. And I would quite happily live in the Western Sahara, of course it would take time to adapt.

Every normal living thing is created to adjust or adapt to different condition even if the hardest way.Have you wondered why fishes do not survive out of water for longer period? It is because they live in water and are well adapted to the conditions in the water that's why fishes can stay in the water all their lives but humans can't stay in water for an hour without oxygen and other diving devices. So matter how hot Africa is,we are able to adapt and live happily in that climate. When you come from a cold region to Africa, you will most likely feel like a fish out of water but i won't because i am acclimatized to my environment.

The simplest way to cope with the heat is to carry a car-door around with you. When it gets too hot, simply wind down the window.
