When I am doing sensitive things on my work computer that others should not see (reports, etc.), I keep a 'safe' screen minimized and just open it on top when people walk in.

This looks less suspicious and allows me to keep working on stuff during the visit.

As for viewing inappropriate stuff- remember that in most companies, someone can monitor what you see and type, and read the logs of the sites you visited.

Whether they do or not is a different issue, but they certainly have the technology and the right to do so, even without your consnet since it is their computer and network.

It's suspicious to do it right when they walk in, but what if you wait a couple of minutes and you were looking at something and they saw? All in all it's better to have them be assuming, because they're probably wrong, than to have them know, and spread gossip all around the town.

knowing me id close on that matter and open another so no hurt feelings get stirred up. and this has happened to me when i walked in the room. maybe you cant but i can go into the computer and find all websites visited. but its not worth it. your entitled to your private rights. i don't watch porn so of coarse if i did id shut it down. warts is none of their business as well. if the person that walked in wasn't snooping by directly looking on your computer you could be discreet and they would not know. the nosy person you should not worry about. do what you gotta do if? it means closing down. thanks

I have masted the art of window minimization, It takes time and practice but if your caught just leave it up and have a good excuse for why it was their anyway, airfares, homework, research for work, etc....if you try to minimize it and your caught then it looks like you have been doing it frequently and it dose make you look guilty. Always have a spare window available like yahoo news or something like that a "dummy window" that will throw off any peering eyes.

It can be suspicious. But If you were going to close the page anyways, then why wait a couple of minutes!?!?! If I'm going to close a web page then I'm going to do it when I want.

Yeah, it is suspicious to me because they would say to me that they was looking at something that they are not suppose to, but at the same time, they probably was doing something like putting personal information on the computer, that they dont want people to look at it.

LOL- yeah just wait a second...unless their is some large picture of who knows what on your screen...then just close it and tell them you were looking for their Christmas present and to get the heck out of the room so they don't spoil the surprise.

Keep something up on another browser window and then just have one hand on Alt and Tab. Just casually press ALT+TAB as they walk in the room and it'll switch over to the other window.. Thats what I do anyways. :P

but there was 1 tym when i was chatting w/male frends & my bf suddenly came.. i was 2 surprised that i 4got 2 close d window..

he caught me red handed, thankfully there was nothing flirty goin on..

since then, i've learned 2 close any window real fast

ya its really suspicious just casually minimize the window or type in a new site in the address bar or something like that but make sure you delete your history so it cant be viewed by others lol !!!!!!!!!
