For the reasons listed below according to one of their spokesmen. They are entitled to hold a conference challenging received wisdom and to seek the truth.
It is a convention to discuss 3 things in particular
1. Were the numbers stated during WWII of Jewish deaths true.
2. Were equal numbers of other races and peoples killed in WWII
3. If the Jews are so persecuted, why do they do the same to Palestine and their neighbors in the Middle East.

It offers a platform for Holocaust-Revisionists to meet and share their views. It may present a new perspective on an important piece of history. Moreover, it should be seen in the context of Israel's rite to exist, given the Holocaust was/is and important part of the Israeli/Jewish psyche, and is often pointed out as a justification for the need of a Jewish State.

The Iranians believe that the Jewish people exaggerated and made up the majority of the holocaust. They believe they did this to get sympathy and protection from the west. They are having the conference to try and prove there theories.

I think the logic of the Iranians goes like this: The US supports Israel in part out of guilt for not doing enough to prevent the Holocaust. If the fact of the Holocaust can be thrown into question then it might undermine US support for Israel.
I'm not saying I agree with the Iranians. This is just my guess about their motivation.

Its the beginning of an attempt to justify doing that exact same thing soon.
by the way for the people who keep saying Jews...there were an estimated 6 million jews killed and an estimated 13 million total killed by the Nazi regime of which most were christian. this is not just an attempt to deny the killing of jews its a denial of killing of all non arian decent humans. when the camps were raided they found enough crystals to kill 60 million people and there was only an estimated 5 million jews left. This wasnt an attack on just jews it was an attack on the world. It was told that their goal was to kill 10 million per year. This is what Ahmadenijad is trying to justify. you will see very soon.

They deny that the Holocaust ever happened. It's their way of getting under the skin of Isreal.

It's a sham conference to appeal to the most radical elements of that society. It's certainly not based on any historical fact.

to prove to the world that israel shouldnt have been created in the first place b/c supposedly the holocaust never happened (which is a hilarious accusation in itself)
