If it is a Mobile phone you can interchange the Sim card with any of their phones, The only reason to unlock them is to be able to use them in Europe as pay as you go phones. So if you ever want to sell your phone it makes it more valuable for resale.

As a T-Mobile engineer I can safely say you will be able to use the SIM in both handsets. Might be worth saving all contacts to SIM, that way you can just open contacts from SIM in your new handset and all of your numbers will be transfered.

Adios

No this will not be a problem as both phones will be on T-mobile.

You can get cheap new phones from here. They are part of the carphonewarehouse group and very cheap.

Is it pay as you go or monthly? I think you should be ok, usually it's not blocked unless you quit your contract. As long as your tariff continues it should be fine.
