As soon as they can sit up completely on their own and have a firm grip on their bottle you can introduce the sippy cup. It may take them a moment for them to "prefer" it but it'll happen. I believe my daughter used one at about 5 months or so.... she'd drink water and juice from her cup. Milk from her bottle.

I think you are talking about a sippy cup? if so I started giving my son a sippy cup before he was one year old he is know almost 2 and a half and still on sippy cups when he is sitting at the table we give him a regular kids cup he can not walk around with it though he is not sturdy enough for it yet maybe in about a year or so. I hope that helps you.

My baby is 4 1/2 and we started her on a sippy. She showed me that she was ready. For instance she was really interested when on my lap and I took a drink of anything she even tried to grab out of my hand. Another clue was in the bath she grabed the cup and opened her mouth and brought the cup up to it. She is a breast fead baby and hates the bottle.
Your baby should tell you when they are ready But I would say deffently before 1 year

My g'son has been on one since 'bout 9 mos. We bought NUBY brand glass. It tapers in the middle so they can get a better grip, and it has a soft top on it that makes the transition easier for the baby. And the best part about it is it only costs About $2.

we started at 6 months. Our daughter is now 10 months. She can hold the cup and suck, but she doesn't realize that she has to tip the cup to get anything out. We still have to hold it for her.

When they show interest. My son was quite young and we were at the mall. (an unintended stop) He was able to hold the cup and sip at the water.
He had been using a straw prior to that as well. Once they are able to hold it themselves I believe is the right age.
