Yes, I also received a letter, along with a check. Instructions were to deposit the check, wait for it to clear and then send a money gram to a person in New York. When they received it, they would send me a check for 27,000.00. I took this check to my bank and it did come up as fraud. (not all banks have the device necessary to verify this) In fact, the Bank was instructed to call the Fraud hot line, in addition to faxing a copy of the check. Obviously, I did not deposit the check, and saved myself $2,996.16. The bank said that a deposited check will appear to the banking customer to have been cleared by the bank, but it can really take up to 14 days. If the customer has established a good account with the bank, they make the funds for the amount of the check available to the customer within 2 days. (when in fact it has not cleared). This is where the scam is. There is phone number on the letter for you to call and confirm. When you do this, they tell you your check will clear in 2 days. When it does, send them a money gram for X amount. In the meantime, the check does bounce, and you have wired them the money, which you cannot cancel. It is definitely a SCAM.

It sounds like a credit card application. All kinds of credit cards have addresses based in Delaware. I think it has something to do with the language they're allowed to use. Check it out, look on the credit card solicitations you receive, they're from Delaware.
