Clear is just that. Clear is the same as saying colorless or a lack of color. You never hear anyone say "I am going to where a clear"... anything, but you do hear "I am going to apply a clear coat of paint," for glossing because clear does not result in a color change to the substance in which it is applied.
Here is an exert from the dictionary that listed synonyms of Clear and their definitions:
Transparent-
1 a (1) : having the property of transmitting light without appreciable scattering so that bodies lying beyond are seen clearly : PELLUCID (2) : allowing the passage of a specified form of radiation (as X-rays or ultraviolet light) b : fine or sheer enough to be seen through : DIAPHANOUS
In short, I agree with this online excert;
"Clear means transparent. Transparent is a characteristic of some materials that allows light to pass through it and maintain an image. Clear is not a color."

Scientifically speaking, no, clear isn't a color.
Practically, you may find products listed with a color of clear.
e.g. in a catalog, you may find labels or cd cases with a color listed as "clear"
Color (or colour, see spelling differences) is the visual perceptual property corresponding in humans to the categories called red, yellow, white, etc. Color derives from the spectrum of light (distribution of light energy versus wavelength) interacting in the eye with the spectral sensitivities of the light receptors. Color categories and physical specifications of color are also associated with objects, materials, light sources, etc., based on their physical properties such as light absorption, reflection, or emission spectra.

Clear is clear. Clear is like the air. Its not a color, its not anything. Its totally see-through. Sometimes theres transparent clear purple, green, etc. That IS a color, seeing as its purple, green, etc. just in a see-through form. So, it depends I guess. (and wow, that was a mouthful! =P)

I would think of it as more of a lack of color or just a coating.
But if you said to paint your walls clear I would look at you and say ok, then walk away saying I'm done.

Clear is all colors because clear isn't a color at all.......clear when you look at it you can see what you were looking at in the first place.....so you can say that clear is all colors because no matter what you look at that is what the color is............did that make sense??

My chemistry professor always has a cow if my class does. He doesn't cosider clear a color but a description that means you can see through it. If we are trying to describe something clear we are supposed to use the term colorless instead of clear.I hope that helps. Good luck!

clear is void of any color-see through-transparent. You can, however, get a clor when passing light through a clear object. Hope this helps.

Yes clear is a color. LOL. I think anyways. If it wasn't clear it would be another color so clear is considered a color.
