I am not talking about when all lanes are filled with cars to capacity. The left lane is traditionally for passing slower traffic and not for cruising. There is alwasy that one person holding everyone up when that same person could travel in one of the other lanes at the same speed. Are they trying to make people drive slower? Are they the boss? I understand that the speed is the same in all lanes, but this is a common courtesy that is often ignored by communters.

I drove the speed limit this morning to see how many people actually were (not in the far-left lane). There were a few over to the right and two jackasses in the passing lane holding traffic up. Everyone else was flying by me (I'm saying that the ambiant traffic flow was faster than the speed limit to prove its not just me).

If you say, "speeding is against the law", do you ALWAYS drive under the limit? You never, EVER drive over the limit, not even a little? You always, ALWAYS err to the slow side? ALWAYS?

renpen...Please, brother...take a breather. I drive above the speed limit with the "ambient flow" of the traffic where I live (80 - 85...no joke). I know I can't control everyone else, so I go along with it and am prepared to take the consequences if I get pulled over. I also know that if I try to make people drive slower, I make people angry, get in the way, and become more of a hazard than a help. That is why...its not because I'm a satanist, a speed-freak, or a total-punk kill-society freakioid...

Liar! I can't believe that you drove the speed limit!

I am a law breaker, rebel, ect...I always drive over the speed limit. I learned 10 speeding tickets ago, that we are all guilty of driving beyond the speed limit, we just may have good reasons why...

Some people are just "out there". Others want to somehow, in ther own little way, police all other traffic. And I think that some people are just so miserable, they get enjoyment out of aggravating others.
Another thing people need to realize (when they are holding up traffic) is that speedometers vary. Your speedometer may not read EXACTLY what anothers reads. And at highway speeds, a couple of miles per hour is definately enough to hold up even "legal limit" drivers.
Whatever the case, some states are making it a law that the left lane is for passing only. I am sure this will solve all the worlds problems.

There are (or at least were) actually some areas where you can get ticketed if you are in the left lane for an extended period and haven't passed anyone because that's exactly what it's supposed to be for - passing.

Who knows why people do what they do though. They probably are trying to get somewhere just like everyone else and aren't paying attention to the traffic behind them.

Speeding is against the law! Why do you think that you can exceed the speed limit? Maybe they shouldn't travel in the left lanes but it shouldn't bother. You are the cause of the problem. People speeding, changing lanes etc are the cause of traffic backups. As soon as one car hits the brakes it all begins.

I think here almost nobody respects the speed limit, I try to do so as much as i can for my own safety and when i notice i am going faster I slow down.

We feel that are vehicles are designed to out perform the vehicles which where built when the speed limits where introduced. So it must be safe to drive above the limit. plus we all watch nascar so can perform seemless tailgating at 200 miles per hour also.

Well, some people dont look in the rear-view mirror, so they don't know that they're holding up traffic.

I say get out of my way before I knock them off the road!
