Spread some baking soda in it and in a few days the smell should be gone. You can also put a few pieces of charcoal in it. Charcoal and baking soda absorb the odor.

Hi wash it down with a good scrub brush and soap and water. Also you may try to rub it with bleach or mean green which is a heavy duty smoke and mould eater product that may work. Sometimes you can get the scent out but other times not so much. You could try to just return the item and get something else. Someone else can do the old dresser that smells like smoke.

If you had, sol-u-mel you should NOT have used bleach! If you put their clothes in there now the colors may fade and/or the clothes may smell like bleach!
All I can say now is try to rinse the dressers of with hot water and let them dry, then I would paint them!
Good luck!

Try leaving them outside in your backyard for about a week. The sun and fresh air will take care of the smell. Don't forget to remove the drawers to let those air out, too.

I bought some furniture that was smoked damaged once. I used Enlish lemon oil. It was the only thing that made the smoke smell go away.

Either paint them or strip them (there is this great orange furniture stripper at Home Depot) and re-stain them. Also put a piece of cedar block in each drawer (it keeps moths and silverfish away).
That will do the trick.
