Yes, I agree, but it's not always possible. I have spent a couple of Christmases alone because I had no choice. When I was in the military I couldn't get home and it sucked. I tried to hang out with other guys who were there, but yes it was very lonely being away from those I loved. That's why now I am so thankful and feel so blessed to have a loving family to go home to at Christmas. Those of us with loved ones around us should be extra thankful for our families. There are many, many people who will be spending Christmas alone this year. I try to remember that when family stresses arise.

yes and no. i believe for those who don't have the luxury of companionship or all of their loved ones have passed or perhaps if your family is so scattered that you rarely meet or see each other that for them i could very well be the most loneliest time of the year. in that case turn that frown around and smile just knowing that Jesus will always love you and that Christmas is actually all about him and not the presents or eggnog but about love. it is very sad when you see the less fortunate with out a family or friends to at least take them in on the holidays. By the way this may be my first Christmas by myself so merry Xmas and happy new year 2007 here we come.

Yes. But some don't have that for whatever reasons. Do you have any single friends who might be alone that you can invite to your Christmas dinner?
My best friend always has myself and my daughters for holidays. We usually take desert and we exchange modest gifts. Last year they went out of state to visit family for Christmas and I felt really bummed with nothing to do. I got really depressed.
Merry Christmas,
Sue

no not necessarily, we are only lonely if that is how we perceive our selves. I learnt a long time ago that If I expect some one or some thing to make me happy I will always be unhappy. So I make my own plans and love my life every day no matter what
