Brainless? Just because people do stupid things doesn't mean they lack intelligence. And for your information plenty of animals will abandon their young if it is born with a problem - google up Colin the Whale, it was abandoned around Sydney by its mother just this year and was euthanised before it starved to death. Humans are the only creatures that care for the intellectually disabled through their entire life. And animals kill, animals steal food from one another, animals do rape - they just don't have penalties for doing such things. Ever seen a squirrel imprisoned for stealing a nut from another squirrel? If anything, humans are smart to put rules in place to ensure the general peace of everyday life.

Actually there is an animal on earth that does not have a brain from what I was told a long time ago...it only has a nervous system that does the job.
It is a lizard known here in the south west as the "horn toad"

even elephent that have biggest brain on land still can't think if he does so it mean other animal can and it mean we will be replace by animal and we only just leave as a fossil and leave as a history as the bad creature.
