Is there any difference at all in any harry potter series between Scholastic, Bloomsbury or any other publisher for the book. And does anybody have an idea when the 7th book is going to come out.

There are slight variations between the books; but essentially they're the same.

About publication of book 7. The major booksellers (Barnes & Nobles, W.H. Smith, Amazon etc,) are taking advance orders now; but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

There was a lot of buzz on the web earlier in the year that the book would come on on 7-7-07 (because "7" is the most magical of numbers). I was hoping that might be the case; but increasingly that doesn't seem likely. The next Harry Potter movie comes out in the next week in July, and both the pubishers and the movies studio don't want publicity campaigns to overlap. Another possible date is July 31, 2007 as that is both Harry Potter's and JK Rowling's birthdays. And I'm hoping that will be it.

Her Publishers at Scholastic already issued a financial statement at their annual stockholder's meeting that the book would be published next year. And I think they're right.

The only thing that makes me doubt it is that before the publication of book 6, in 2005, we already knew the title of the upcoming book by Christmas 2004. As of yet, we don't have the title, or even any assurances that the book is nearing completion. And given the miliions of copies needed to be printed, it will take AT LEAST 6 months just to get them printed, bound and shipped.

So who knows -- maybe the autumn of 2007?? Or MAYBE, JKR will give us a Christmas present this year, and tell us the book is complete, and when it might be published. Now THAT's a present I'm sure we'd all like to get...

Sorry I can't tell you more. Cheers, mate.

there is also a difference in the appearance... Scholastics has pictures per chapter and the cover image is quite cartoony while Bloomsbury had a more realistic design... the book however is still not yet complete according to news, J.K. Rowling stop writing halfway of the book she's waiting for the release of the 5th movie before she would continue...

seventh book comes out july 31st. With the harry potter books the only difference with the publishing companies is the cover of the books.

The British editions are slightly different than the American ones---certain slang words, etc. are different.
