Depending on the case but you will probably have to contact the police and the County/City Clerk and Recorder´s office. It all depends on what stage the case is in and who is handling it (city versus county police)

Yes, Go to the clerk of courts where the case was tried. If the case is closed,(verdict rendered), for both defendants then it's a matter of public record and is free for the asking. There may be a small administrative fee. The clerk don't work for free ;-P
Another thing you can do is ask a local newspaper reporter how they get the info.
