I believe it is.....just like the color blue has a smorgasbord of meanings.....but I don't think there's any such thing as too many moods.....or too much blue :)

Do you believe the metaphor 'smorgasbord' is appropriate? As an avid fan of smorgasbords, I see a discrepancy. I lavish my appetite on buffets. Something I don't do when experiencing 'melancholy.'
When I search for suitable metaphors, though, I find difficulty. I suppose melancholy is exclusive to everyone and conclusive to no one. The melancholy I experience is ever changing and situations provide profiles unto themselves. I have to admit, though, I prefer many times not to languish in it.
I can tell you that melancholy may provide valuable insight into your emotional state if you harness uncollared perspective.

I think melancholy is just a feeling of feeling blue or down but for no apparent reason, u can't necessairly pinpoint it! Kinda like feeling BLAH, but just add sad to it !!!

no, its a pause, a resting point for emotions, let that part of your brain relax for what comes next, be it love, have sadness, guilt, pain, fear, happiness, relief, or hope
