Right click on the desktop and click properties. Display properties will pop up. Tab over to settings and Increase your resolution. This should work. Click apply.

If you ONLY want Icons to change:
Go to Word
Go to Tools
Go to Customize
Choose Options tab
Check to see if Large Icons is checked, if so, uncheck it.

The other options mention will make everything smaller, like all the words, pix etc.

Right-click anywhere on your desktop.......left-click on "properties"
In the display properties window, click on the "settings" tab
Increase your screen resolution.....this will make the icons smaller

Try clicking Ctrl and the minus sign at the same time, it reduces the size in your screen.
