They also "forget" that we (the US) trained Bin Laden and gave Saddam his weapons... but yes.. people are more afraid and they both should and shouldn't be... they should be because the current administrations policies are making it more likely that terrorists would want to strike us again.. and they shouldn't be because the point of terrorism is to strike fear into the hearts of people.. they want us to destroy ourselves... and in that aspect to fear them is to allow them to win.

I live in New Jersey about 40 minutes out of NYC and my Dad works there. After 6 years of Bush, I'm MORE concerned about his safety now than I was a year after 9/11.
I didn't know about the IRA thing.

yes. It was the first time since the british set the fire in the white house hundreds of years ago, that US felt what it was like being on the receiving end of terrorism. Before, it were only they that had the exclusive right to carry out terrorist acts in other countries i.e. Nicaragua.
no. IT seems little strange, silly and ludicurous that the strongest country, in military and economic terms, in the world should be afraid of some sort of mega powerful evil terrorist who can destory them at any moment.

When 911 happened my first thought was: "At last, now those smug bastards in America will see what it's been like here for years". Especially as the Americans have been funding the IRA for decades. (Noraid among many.)
The trouble with those smug bastards is they immediately went after the wrong bloody guys on a crusade of ineptitude.
They've now made things 100 times worse than before.
So they aren't just smug bastards any more they are smug furking stupid bastards!

I do not think people are afraid but I would say aware of the risk of possible terror. I do not think that Bush/Blair war helped to reduce that risk, in contrary, they are like someone who threw a stone at a wasps nest. Thousands of terrorists hatched in Iraq, Afghanistan...Iraq is finished forever. no one can bring Iraq back to what it was before the war...The world is less safe than ever..but what can we do, we voted for Blair and here we are!

silly and misinformed.
Some irish-americans doanted to the IRA.The united states as a nation did not.
So there is no connection except in your head.
A few unemployed misguided thugs mascarading as freedom fighters of the IRA are obviously small potatoes compared with those who can deliver terror on the scale of 9/11.
Al quaeda brought death and destruction of thousands of people between usa, spain and britain.Should we give in to them ?Im sure you would. But I and many others like me would sooner crush them into oblivion.hopefully taking a few misinformed liberal lefties who seem to support the terrorism with them to hell.
