My fiancee and i moved in together in september, and were originally planning to have christmas dinner together(which we would still love to do), then somehow see our family too, but last night we were thinking about how much we are going to miss christmas dinner with our families.
During christmas day we have to find time to see his parents my mums side and my dads side of the family....and we dont know how we are going to fit it all in.

So...im just wondering how everyone else does it. please help

I am going through the same thing, too. My parents live one hour north of us & his parents live two hours south of us, so it's not practical to try & see them both in one day. Last year we just split up & went to our own parents' houses. It worked okay, but we would have liked to have been together. We're still not sure what to do this year. It's going to either be go our separate ways again, or see one family on Christmas & the other family a couple days before Christmas. It's not really fair to the family who we don't see on Christmas, but next year we'll switch who we see on Christmas. We thought about having it at our place, but it would just be waaaaay too many people for our apartment. Good luck!

We have a very extended family setup with lots of steps and halfs so we spread it over the 3 days!
Have one day to yourselves and toss a coin as to who gets you on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day- they should understand your dilemma and respect your wish to be together throughout. You could have both sides over to yours but if thats a bit daunting then agree alternate years with each side if you really want Christmas Day with family. Merry Christmas!

I spend Christmas Eve with my mother's family and Christmas Day with my father's. My mom's family does a big dinner on Christmas Eve so that works out nicely. I have friends who alternate which house they go to on Christmas Eve and which they go to on Christmas Day.

Invite everyone to your house!

Best to loosely set a finish time so you can have a little of the day alone together.

Have a happy and peaceful Christmas.

Why do u feel compelled to find time for all your family on just one day of the year? I never understand Xmas. Why not make a point of seeing them all year around (when you can). Instead of having all this fakeness and false happiness at Xmas.

how about on christmas eve...you have a "drop in" for his family and yours and serve some nice party appetizers and exchange the gifts you have for them and them for you ...and then on christmas day you and your finace can still have dinner together...and then you can stop by each others family's house for desserts...Merry Christmas
