But lately I've been playing w/ the idea of a probation officer and I want it bad! It's the first thing I've become passionate about since I started this whole journey BACK to school! Can I become a probation officer w/ a Human resource degree!?!

Background qualifications for probation officers and correctional treatment specialists vary by State, but a bachelor’s degree in social work, criminal justice, or a related field is usually required. Some employers require previous experience or a master’s degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, or a related field.

Human resources would not quailfy as a related field.

In Indiana and in a lot of different states, you opt for a Bachelor's degree (both BA or BS) from an accepted college as a fashion to become a probation officer. It doesn't might want to be in criminal Justice both, even with the actual shown truth that that can make you larger probably to get employed. My BA is in history, yet we produce different officials in our branch with degrees in preparation, Psychology, and faith, besides as different fields. maximum persons with non-criminal justice degrees got here to the career of probation after operating in different fields.
