No they bounce off ground transmitters called base stations and signals go from phone to several transmitters to eventually another phone. Or like when I try to call my best friend I bounce from transmitter to the voicemail lol.

Only if you can throw that high.... and if you can, the lack of gravity in space will probably make it so it just floats away, unable to hit the space station.

But seriously.... cell phones use towers to get their signals. Radio frequencies. You can see cell site towers everywhere. Despite popular belief, cell phone signals don't bounce off of satellites (like T-Mobile and Cingular once told people in training). Their networks are the same as every other carrier's networks, it's just the frequencies are different.

If you mean the signal, no, it doesn't. There are special sattelites set up on the ground.
