Yes, unless the Motherboard rejects it with a series of beeps and not allowing you to boot up or if it doesnt fit.

just remember it has to be the same "type" eg; ddr,ddr2 etc, speed you can go higher but it's only going to run as fast as the bus speed

I assume you mean DDR2, no you can not. They sticks are different sizes.
